Custom Orthotics
Each pair of feet in this world is completely unique. No one on the planet has exactly the same feet that you do!
Unfortunately, that also means some feet are a little better than others at distributing weight and pressure and facilitating a comfortable, biomechanically sound stride. Combine inefficient foot structures or biomechanics with the hard, flat surfaces of modern society, and pain is the far-too-common result.
But there is a solution! When your feet need a little extra support, cushioning, or even realignment to help you get through the day, custom orthotics are usually the best choice.
What Are Custom Orthotics?
Custom orthotics are shoe inserts that are made just for you, designed to give your feet exactly the right amounts of support, cushioning, and stability that they require, in precisely the right locations. They are extremely versatile tools that can aid in the treatment of a wide variety of conditions.
That’s because many common foot problems, including most forms of heel pain, many sports injuries, diabetic ulcers, and even foot deformities like bunions can be at least partially caused by structural or biomechanical issues with the feet.
The correct pair of custom orthotics not only alleviates pressure and pain acting on the feet, but also puts your feet in better alignment with the ankles and legs. This can help you reduce pain throughout your legs, hips, and even back, too!
During your initial appointment, we’ll take an impression of your feet in their biomechanically optimal position. This gets sent to a lab where your orthotics will be made. You’ll come in again one more time to test the fit of your new orthotics, and we’ll make any last-second “touch up” adjustments that may be needed to ensure the best possible fit and performance.
WHY ARE CUSTOM ORTHOTICS BETTER THAN STORE-BOUGHT INSOLES?
Store insoles are made to provide a little extra cushioning or support for general, common foot shapes. They may provide temporary relief for people with very mild foot soreness, but they are not a customized, long-term solution.
To make an analogy, store-bought insoles are like off-the-shelf reading glasses, while custom orthotics are more like prescription glasses or contacts made just for you. While prefabs may be adequate for some people, custom orthotics can treat a much wider range of foot problems with much greater success.
Durability is another big factor. While most store-bought insoles will only last 3-6 months at most, a good pair of custom orthotics that is well cared for can often last 3-5 years or more. With the potential for insurance coverage as well as special discounts (see below), custom orthotics can also be very affordable.
Get a Discount on a Second Pair!
We strongly encourage our orthotics patients to have more than one pair in their collection. There are several great benefits to this, including:
-
Greatly increased lifespan for each set (since wear and tear is being spread across multiple pairs)
-
More convenient (since you don’t have to switch out the orthotics every time you change shoes)
-
You can fit orthotics to specific footwear or activities based on your lifestyle (so, for example, you have one set for casual shoes, one set for dress shoes, and one set for sports)
In order to make this more affordable for patients who may not have insurance coverage for orthotics, or whose insurance will only cover a single pair, we offer the following special discount:
Anytime within the first 3 months after your initial visit, as long as your first pair of orthotics has been paid for in full, you can purchase a second pair at our discounted self-pay rate of just $185.
When you consider how long custom orthotics last, how effective they are at alleviating pain, and even the potential health gains you can make in that time simply by not being held back by painful feet anymore, we think getting a second pair at that price is an absolute steal.
