A DRUG-FREE OPTION TO ELIMINATE PAIN!
For so many Americans—across all ages and demographic groups—pain is a fact of life. It doesn’t discriminate:
- Youth athletes who sprain their ankles or break a bone
- Adults who work on their feet all day and struggle with chronic heel pain and fatigue
- Peripheral neuropathy sufferers dealing with shocking, shooting, and tingling pain
- Senior citizens dealing with arthritis
If you find yourself in any of these groups, or others like them, you already know what it’s like to deal with chronic, nagging, persistent pain that keeps you from doing the things you love to do.
And, most likely, you’re probably also used to the never-ending cycle of reaching for that bottle of pills, or stopping by the doctor’s office for an injection.
Even under the best of circumstances, taking drugs to manage pain is not ideal. Sure, it’s usually fine to grab a couple of ibuprofens once in a while for a headache. But constant, regular use of painkillers can damage your body and your health in all sorts of ways—and we’re not just talking about addictive opioids here.
Multiple steroid injections in the same area, for example, can fundamentally weaken the connective tissues they’re supposed to be helping. And prolonged use of even mild over-the-counter painkillers can eventually cause things like kidney and liver damage, nausea, and worse.
But what’s the alternative? Pretending the pain doesn’t exist? Resigning yourself to your fate?
No!
At Capital Podiatry Associates, we work hard to bring you drug-free, non-surgical remedies to address your pain, and we’re now offering an exciting new treatment technology that can do just that—MLS laser therapy.
Let’s learn a little bit more about it.
What Is MLS Laser Therapy and
How Does It Work?
This is a therapeutic treatment that harnesses photon energy (in other words, light) to trigger pain-relieving and tissue-healing processes within the molecules and cells of your body.
As the twin lasers used by the MLS device are moved around the skin above the area of pain, the photons “penetrate” (there’s no cutting or pain whatsoever) into the tissues, where they interact with your body’s cells. This process activates natural biological processes responsible for reducing pain and inflammation, accelerating tissue repair mechanisms, increasing blood flow to the area, reconnecting nerve cells, and more.
Therapeutic lasers, it should be noted, have been around for a few decades now. The MLS system in particular is an advancement and improvement on these older technologies, thanks to its robotically controlled, synchronized twin laser system.
Much More Than Just
Pain Relief
As you may have figured out already, MLS laser isn’t just a system for relieving pain. Yes, pain relief is one of its most important roles. But unlike most drug-based painkillers, masking the symptoms is only part of its function. It also actually treats the causes of pain by stimulating the natural biological processes responsible for healing.
Just a moment ago we talked about how MLS uses two lasers instead of one, and that’s actually pretty critical. One of these is a higher-powered pulsed laser, and this one is primarily responsible for the rapid, significant reduction in pain. The other, a lower-powered continuous laser, is designed to reduce inflammation and trigger healing.
The combination of these lasers into a single treatment is what enables the MLS system to achieve much more significant results than either type of laser could on its own, due to the way they reinforce one another during the treatment session.
What Conditions Can Be
Treated with MLS Laser Therapy?
A better question might be, “What conditions can’t be treated?” And we’re barely exaggerating.
Because it triggers such a broad range of positive biological processes, MLS laser therapy can be incorporated into a treatment plan for nearly any type of acute or chronic pain, especially in soft tissues such as tendons, ligaments, and muscles. This includes things like plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, most sports injuries (acute and chronic), joint pain, and more.
MLS laser therapy has also shown extremely promising results when incorporated into a treatment plan for peripheral neuropathy. The laser not only reduces the painful symptoms associated with the condition, but can even help them begin to regenerate and operate more effectively. Often patients are able to significantly reduce or even eliminate their reliance on drugs to manage the pain.
We also use MLS laser therapy to accelerate wound healing, including both diabetic wounds and surgical wounds. This can greatly reduce infection risk, as well as reduce the appearance of visible scars.
Any Other Advantages?
As we said, MLS laser is a completely drug-free treatment option and can be effective for a huge variety of conditions. But those aren’t the only benefits:
- It’s painless. You might feel a slight warming sensation, but that’s it.
- It’s safe. In fact, there are no known side effects, even after years of testing, studies, and clinical use.
- It’s compatible. There are very few contraindications, and the therapy can be combined with almost any other traditional treatment method to enhance the results.
- It’s convenient. Sessions are brief and easy to fit into your schedule.
- No downtime. There’s no need to rest afterward or icky feelings. You can go right back to your busy day after your appointment.
What Can I Expect?
We’ll schedule you out for a number of treatment sessions, based on your condition and schedule.
Each session can be completed in 30 minutes or less, depending on how large of a region needs to be treated. Stop in before work, after work, even on your lunch break.
Usually about 6-12 sessions are required, once or twice per week, to complete the treatment course. However, some people start to see amazing results in as little as 1-3 sessions. It varies from person to person—but having said that, about 9 out of 10 patients do see significant improvement by the end.
It’s important to understand that results are cumulative, with each session building on the ones that came before. It’s not like steroid injections or painkillers, where you’re just temporarily masking pain until the drug wears off. These treatments are actually repairing your body, so your symptoms will continue to get better and better after more sessions.
